AWR Lloyd judges at UN Technology Innovation Lab hackathon in India

As a part of the global United Nations programme Reboot the Earth, the United Nations Technology Innovation Labs (UNTIL), together with the Govt of Haryana, conducted a global hackathon in Gurgaon, India, in August 2019. AWR Lloyd’s Rustom Modi, MD Technology and Infrastructure, was a judge and mentor at the two day hackathon. Thirty five teams from India participated to build solutions that address the issues around Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that the UN is implementing globally. The focus of the hackathon was the use of cutting edge technologies to specifically address the SDG’s of women empowerment; health; sustainable development and quality education. The winning team showcased a solution using Machine Learning and Blockchain to build a platform for e-learning; the crowdfunding of projects through investor outreach; and building local sustainable development agricultural best practices through real-time information dissemination. The team will present at the UN General Assembly this September.

UNTIL and AWR Lloyd are global partners, and plan to work on a number of initiatives around leveraging technology to meet sustainable climate goals, the Circular Economy and equitable development.
