Rajat Kohli is a non-executive director of AWR Lloyd and a senior advisor to the directors of the firm. Raj has more than two decades of experience working with the mining, metals and energy industries.

He is currently  Global Head of Mining & Metals at Standard Bank, based in London. He was previously Co-Head of M&A at Arcelor Mittal, the world’s largest steel company.

He started his career in journalism, at Metal Bulletin, the leading international metals and steel industry newspaper. He moved into finance at MC-BBL, focused on the CIS and Eastern European metals sectors in 1995 before joining Paribas (now BNP Paribas) in 1996. In 2000 he joined HSBC Investment Bank and became Managing Director of the Resources & Energy  Group. During his time at HSBC , Raj managed some of the largest metals sector assignments, including the Mittal Steel acquisition of Arcelor, the Tata Steel acquisition of Corus, the three-way combination of Rusal, Glencore and Sual, the Phelps Dodge offer to acquire Inco and Falconbridge, and the IPO  of Vedanta Resources on the London Stock Exchange.

Raj was educated at the London School of Economics and Cass Business School.
